Sometimes the perfect day sneaks upon you. It may seem like any other ordinary day. You'll probably spend the first part not noticing, yet everything falls into place. You awake from a restful sleep to find the one you love by your side. You look across the room to see your youngest son sleeping peacefully in his crib/bed(at 7 he should be out of your room but you can't imagine what that move will do to YOU!). Your loving wife asks how she looks for work, as she does each day, and your only thought is too good for them so stay home in my embrace. You sit down for your morning breakfast, cereal, and the box empties just enough for you. You notice fresh blueberries in the fridge and think, why not? Your loving wife leaves and you wish you had a second chance to tell her how much you love her and she walks back in, she forgot her computer. You race through your emails and business opportunities only to find an answer to one of your tweets, a new Empower Network friend! As you sit at the computer the laughter and play of your wonderful boys gives you peace You think of all that you want to accomplish that day as you work feverishly through lunch only to be surprised by your pride and joy, your namesake, with a carefully and lovingly prepared sandwich. Full of energy, and knowing you need to stretch your tight, spinal cord injured muscles you arise for a daily walk around the block. Early today, but you want to soak up the sun and feel the breeze. The circle is quiet today, your alone with your thoughts, introspective. No sweat today, no strain as your pace quickens you sense a record time today. You started the summer completing your walk in just under 38 minutes, today you clock 31. You return and want to check in on your second oldest, 16, and sit quietly reflecting on what a wonderful young man he is becoming. He took the initiative to get himself a job at Dunkin Donuts this summer and electronically deposits his entire check each week in a savings account, "Dad, I'll only spend my tip money". Last night, after working his 4 hour day shift he jumped up and arranged a ride for himself to work an abandoned late shift 6 to 10 to keep the store open, all alone. How you'll never forget the moment you first met and the date nite she told you, "Your tardiness will not be tolerated!". This woman who has blessed you with 4 loving, wonderful boys and stood strong by you through all life's ups and downs. Who never fails to capture your attention when she enters any room. Who battles daily to hold her family tight and persevere through ALL challenges. How blessed you are to know her love. As you close your eyes the sun envelopes you, the breeze cools you, the smoke travels throughout your body touching damaged nerve endings likes pins and needles reminding you what it was to feel and caressing your tight, strained muscles. You hear laughter in the distance approaching. Its your eldest, 18, and your youngest chasing each other as they play super heroes and villains in the rolling spread of your perfectly cut back lawn. You know this moment must be recorded. This moment is truly what life is about. Those unexpected, perfect days that make life worth living. That need you nearly as much as you need them to happen. Those moments that stand out in your life as a reflection of why we are here. Those moments that motivate you to achieve higher so you can continuously recreate them. Those moments that are your WHY and push you to get to the next one. This is life as I see it and the view is incredible!
